Sail Master

The East Chop Yacht Club in Oak Bluffs is looking for a Sail Master to lead its growing summer sailing program from June 26 through August 17.


The Sail Master will oversee staff, be responsible for commissioning Optis and 420s, follow ECYC standard curriculum plans for beginners to advanced sailors, and grow the racing program. They will assure safety on boats and assist students in developing skills in a fun environment. Previous teaching and racing experience is required. The Sail Master will be responsible for decommissioning boats by August 17th.

Key Responsibilities include:
Familiarity with Optimus and 420 sailing boats
Teaching all levels of sailing
Overseeing Staff
Tracking registrations, collecting fees, and collaborating with the East Chop Beach Club manager
Commissioning: preparing Optimist (Optis) and 420s for the season. This includes removing from storage, cleaning, and rigging.
Decommissioning: at the conclusion of the season, boats must be prepared for and put into storage.
 
Lifeguard certification is complimentary upon hire and includes CPR and First Aid Certificates.
Must pass a CORI background check

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 150 lbs.
Familiarity with the operation and troubleshooting of small outboard boats and motors
